A Day Out

1:00:00 PM

A few days ago, my dad brought up the idea to go to a Flea Market on the outskirts of town.
If you don't know what a Flea Market is, you might call it something else, but it's set up outside and people, vendors, bring things that they want to sell to hopeful buyers. Flea Markets are also pretty inexpensive, and every now and then someone makes a rare find. It's actually really neat. You can see people from different towns and the vendors bring some things they've either made or have no more use for. We brought along Sadie since it was almost eighty degrees outside! That's really nice and warm for around here, definitely summertime weather.
Happy to be outside, we had a look around. Of course, I took pictures!

Here are just a few of the things the vendors had out for everyone to look at!

A nice old saddle. Kind of makes me want to go for a horseback ride.

There were also a few stands selling jams and old books!

Here we have old axes and pans and other silverware.

These things were really cool! All made from spoons and a few forks. There were candle holders to yard decor. Kind of makes me wish I was that artistic.

Ha, I also found this birdbath, like I mentioned, you never know what you'll actually find at a Flea Market.
After wandering through, we piled into the car and grabbed some Icecream. It was a lovely ending to a really nice day!
I hope all of you are having nice weather! Thanks for reading, I really do appreciate and love you for it. I love you ten times more when you comment! :) x
xx
See you next time!

First Year Wrap Up

1:00:00 PM

First I’ll start off by saying, I have written and rewritten this post so many times before deciding that it’s okay to send it out into the internet world for you all to lay your eyes on. Second, this is entirely my opinion based on my own experience, it does not and probably will not be the same as yours.

As many of you know, I have recently finished up my first year of college. A lot of people are asking “How did you find it?” “Was it fun?”
Let’s do a quick recap first shall we?

The summer before my first year was incredible, I spent almost every weekend with my friends at their graduation parties, sitting around a fire until late at night. I took a trip to New York City, you can read the post about my favorite restaurant here. Before I knew it, it was time for school again. A lot of my friends who I had been hanging out with during the summer were packing up and moving away to four year universities. There were a few who decided not to go at all and take a year off to work.

I had decided to go to a two year university. It was a good choice, save money, get acclimated to college life before throwing myself into completely unknown territory. My parents wouldn’t have to fret over me being so far away the first year. I still had expectations, as every student does during their first year. It’s a new school, you’ll meet a lot of people, make new friends. That sort of happened…but not really. I think I made one friend. It’s different going to a two year college where the majority live at home and commute to class and most of the students have grown up and just graduated high school with each other.

The first semester was great, I didn’t have to wake up at 5am anymore, so that was really nice. The teachers were pleasant. Though I was not prepared for how long the homework would take. None of my friends really kept in touch by the time the second semester rolled around. We did get together during the holidays when everyone came home. They shared stories about their roommates and meals and events, me? I had no exciting tales to tell. Other than that one kid in Spanish class who told a girl she was “retarded” for asking a question. I was appalled. The thing with my friends coming back that put me off was that they would ask the generic, “How is your semester going?” and you’d tell them, but they would stop listening in the middle of it and move on. I felt I had been shrugged off for not going to a big university like they had, whether they had meant to do that or not.
The professors in college were alright, I mean I guess it’s the same with everything you get a good one and you can get a bad one. One teacher told me that I hadn’t done well on a previous test and that even if I tried I probably wouldn’t make it. The next day was the test, and I would like to point out I got a B on that one. I still felt upset that a teacher would say that. Don’t try, it won’t be good enough. Yea you get paid anyway. I told my advisor I have anxiety and she said “I don’t want you to feel anxious or freak out, but 80% of kids in this class don’t make it.” Yea okay thanks for the uplifting encouragement. I do want to say I really did like walking into class. I thought it was pretty.
My school isn't called "Park" it's actually next to a big park!

I was excited about second semester, because after this one it’s summer! And who doesn’t love Summer? Unless you’re a vampire or something then I guess you wouldn’t like it. I had thoughts of “Why do I need college?” “What does a taking a test on factoring have to do with anything?” “When will I need to know how to do all of this fancy math stuff if my major isn’t anything to do with math?!” I don’t like math can you tell? I totally disagree that you need to spend time and money learning something you don’t need. Is it to make us more “rounded?” because if that’s it. Then what the hell was high school for?

I constantly had to remind myself that I’m doing this to study abroad. I have to do this to get a job, a good one and when I get a good job I can buy more dogs and I can live in England on a patch of green field and watch those dogs run around and have all the tea I want.

The year ended with a sigh of relief that it was finally over. I know that this isn’t everyone’s same experience, and it’s totally unique to me. All of my friends, even some who stayed in town and went to the same school I did had a great time and met a lot of people. I am going off to a bigger University next semester and now I am only one step closer to getting to England. (and I cannot wait to write that blog post when the time comes!)
So with all of that being said, I really hope it goes much better than this year did. There will be blog posts about packing and moving and things that come with that later on.

Do any of you go to Uni/College? What was your first year like?
If you’re not in Uni/College and you’re worried about the fact that you can’t figure out something to study or major in…DO NOT worry. Try classes that you think look fun and I promise you’ll find something to do eventually.

Xx
Sorry this was so long. There will be more exciting blog posts because..ITS OFFICIALLY SUMMER FOR ME !!!!

Just Around the Corner

3:38:00 PM

It's been an entire eight days since I have written to you all. For that I am really sorry.
Good news though! There are a few blog posts already in my drafts, almost ready for you all to lay eyes on. So what have I been up to lately? Why have I not written in eight days?

 Exams.
Yes, they took over and I really had to study for them. I already have two down and only one left! I wrote my last English paper and handed it in. I had my first two exams on Saturday. Yea, how weird and annoying is that? Since not all of you are from Wisconsin, or go to my University, do you ever have Saturday exams for anything?
If you do have exams coming up, good luck!
You'll probably do better than you think you did.

The weather has finally been warming up, though it has been a weird pattern of really cold to rather warm days. Sadie and I have ventured out on our daily walks, don't you worry.
Even if the sun isn't out in full force, she doesn't mind, and it's a good excuse for me to stop studying and take a break! We have spent a few hours sunning on the deck, and I've also spent some time reminiscing about my trip to Hawaii a few years back by having some mango ice cream. I'll probably tell you again, but I'm obsessed and crazy in love with mango flavored ice cream!
I did have a shopping trip to Old Navy this past week though too, should I do a haul on that? I bought a pair of really cute sandals! Let me know what you think!

This is from our walk earlier today! The snow is all gone!

Do you have any Summer plans?
My friends have all come back into town, and I'm hoping to meet up with them a few times during the long break. I have a few goals for the Summer, these are them.

  1.  Put down the phone! Even if it's just for a day, just turn it off.
  2. Read (I'm looking for books to read currently, so if you have suggestions, the comment box is yours)
I guess I really only have two, but it's early and I have plenty of time to make more!
I know this post was short, but I hope you all have a great day! I have a lengthier post coming up maybe mid week or Friday or Saturday. I haven't decided!

Also !!!! If you have a blog, or have read a blog that you really like link it in the comments! I'm always looking for new people to read about! :)

This or That Tag

12:00:00 PM

Unfortunately, with exams coming next weekend and my official last day of classes being Wednesday I actually didn't have a blog post ready! It's been quite busy, and I'm not going to lie, I'm more than a little nervous for exams! At the same time, I hated this semester and that blog post is ready to go for next week! Almost, just needs a few pictures! Then it's Summer! And that means more recipes and adventures and fun blog posts! If you have any suggestions please make sure you email me or comment below! :)

Anyway, my friend Anna from Spain (you can read her blog here ) did a post called "This or That" tag and it seemed like a really easy thing to do since I had not prepared anything!
So let's start shall we?

Make Up:
  • Blush or Bronzer? Blush!
  • Lipgloss or Lipstick? I use both, but if I want the color to last longer then I prefer lipstick
  • Eye-Liner or Mascara? Mascara, unless I'm going somewhere fancy, but mascara is just easy and quick to put on
  • Foundation or Concealer? Concealer!
  • Neutral or Color eye shadow? Depends on the outfit
  • Pressed or loose eyeshadows? I haven't really used loose, so pressed!
  • Brushes or sponges? Brushes
Nails:
  • OPI or China Glaze: Actually I've been liking Orly and Essie nail polishes!
  • Long or short?: Medium, I pick my nails so they usually never get obnoxiously long!
  • Acrylic or natural? Natural!
  • Brights or darks? I do like the classic dark red, but since it's Spring and almost summer I've been going for the brighter colors!
  • Flower or no flower? Depends
Body:

  • Perfume or Body Splash? Well from this post I did earlier I'm sure you already know that answer. (it's perfume)
  • Lotion or Body Butter? Lotion
  • Body wash or soap? Both
  • Lush or other bath company: I'm making my first trip to Lush next month! But otherwise Bath and Body Works.
Fashion:

  • Jeans or sweatpants: This really depends on the day, if i'm having a lounge day at home then sweatpants, otherwise jeans if I leave the house!
  • Long sleeve or short: Basically the weather determines that!
  • Dresses or skirts? Dresses, I actually don't own that many skirts!
  • Stripes or Plaid? I have more stripes than plaid in my closet so..
  • Flip flops or sandals: Flip flops!
  • Scarves or Hats? Did you see my scarf collection? (here) definitely scarves!
  • Studs or Dangle Earrings? I prefer studs, but if I'm going to a fancy place or event then dangle-y!
  • Necklaces or Bracelets? Necklaces! Bracelets hurt my wrist if I'm writing!
  • Heels or Flats? Flats
  • Cowboy boots or Riding boots? Oh, there's a difference? Cowboy boots then.
  • Jacket or Hoodie? Sweater.
Hair:

  • Curly or Straight? Both!
  • Bun or Ponytail? If I have time, I'll put mine in a bun but if I'm just sitting around the house then a ponytail!
  • Bobby Pins or butterfly clips? Butterfly clips? What the heck? Bobby pins..
  • Long or Short? In between, I think everyone has their own definition of what "long hair" or "short hair" is.
  • Hair spray or gel?  Spray
  • Light or dark? I've actually had my hair both colors! I like both!
  • Side swept bangs or full bangs? Side swept
  • Up or down? Down but if I'm doing work then up
Random:
  • Rain or Shine? A little bit of both!
  • Summer or Winter? Summer!!!!
  • Fall or Spring? Both!
  • Chocolate or Vanilla? Vanilla!
  • East Coast or West Coast? NYC is on the East Coast and I've traveled on the East Coast the most..so East I guess!

Sorry there isn't a proper blog up today! So i hope this holds you over until I finish my exams! Good luck if you're taking exams soon or are right now! Make sure you follow me on all of the social media things ( you can find links to them in the "Get in Touch" page at the top!
            xx
I tag all of you reading this right now to answer these questions! So have fun! :) x

April Showers

3:37:00 PM

As I am writing this right now it is currently pouring rain outside. It's been doing this for an entire week now, and I'm starting to feel as though Wisconsin has slightly shifted closer to England? Though, I feel like I shouldn't complain because hey at least it isn't snowing!
The weather does make me quite happy that my mom had purchased a pair of rain boots for me! (Let's go jump in all of the puddles now!!).

(Note this is clearly taken during a sunny day and not this week!)
With the rain comes the nonexistent lay outside in the sun weather, therefore I'm stuck inside. Which is fine and probably good since exams are coming up. I have to admit it is a whole lot easier to focus on hours of tedious and boring homework when the sun is shut away behind the dark gray clouds. I'm realived that I can finally see the end of this semester out on the horizon. It's been filled with what feels like never ending stress and I'm more than eager to get it done with.

Unfortunatley rain does bring bad news, Sadie and I haven't been able to take our afternoon strolls! But don't worry, she's been making the best of her bottled up energy by running around the house after me and playing with her neon green rabbit, and also sleeping which frankly I wish I could sleep too.
(Doesn't she just melt your heart? she's in the middle of yawning in the left side picture.)

Maybe if the rain slows down I will try to take her out and see how she gets on with it.
No I don't mind the rain so much I guess. Besides, I do want to live in England after all.
I hope where ever you are that the weather has been sunny and warm!
Sorry most of my posts have been about food recently, I just really haven't gone on any adventures but never fear! Second semester is almost up and I've got a few adventures planned out!

xx
