Social Media

1:00:00 PM

This video popped up in my newsfeed on Facebook the other day.
It made me think.
Though this thought hasn't crossed my mind it made me consider it longer.
The video I'm talking about is "Can We Auto-Correct Humanity?" by Prince Ea.
It was posted on Youtube on September 29th, so it's new and you may or may not have seen it yet.
It hits the nail on the head, social media is so...unsocial.
Friends go out to meals and check their phones every two seconds. You're friends are sitting right in front of you, who are you waiting to hear from?
That band you get twitter updates from, is that so much more important than enjoying a moment?
If you don't know about the video I'm talking about, it's this one

After watching the video it does make you think. At least, that's the point of it. Have you ever gone out with friends and all they're doing is updating twitter, and instagram and snap-chatting the fact that you're all together?
It's nice. Let me tell you.
To just put the phone down, close the computer and go outside. Just alone, with or without someone. Just have a heart to heart talk, or enjoy the sunshine.
Because you will never be this age again.
Today is not the same as yesterday and it will not be the same as tomorrow.
So why don't you just log off for a moment?
This video was well worth a watch. There are so many people, at least that I see that don't know how to communicate and don't know what to do when they have to turn their phone off or even when it breaks that they just freak out and have a panic about it. Whoever is texting you is still going to be there. People don't like talking on the phone (like me) because it's so much easier to text (and you don't get that awkward pause if you're doing something while they're talking).
Let's all try something. Put the phone down and close the laptop just...
Go outside! It's really fun out there!
Trust me.
Even for like...an hour or two!

What did you think about the video?
Let me know in the comments!

The Best of Me: Movie Review

10:51:00 AM

I love when new movies come out. Seeing the commercials on tv weeks or months before they actually comes out makes me so excited to see them when they hit theaters.
Recently, the movie "The Best of Me" was being presented at my local movie theater, they were offering members two free tickets each to see the film a couple days in advance.

The synopsis of the film goes like this;
"The story of Dawson and Amanda, two former high school sweethearts who find themselves reunited after 20 years apart, when they return to their small town for the funeral of the beloved friend. Their bittersweet reunion reignites the love they've never forgotten, but soon they discover the forces that drove them apart twenty years ago live on, posing even more serious threats today. Spanning decades, this epic love story captures the enduring power of our first true love, and the wrenching choices we face when confronted with elusive second chances."

I was quite excited to see the film, it was a rainy night so the perfect time to see the film.
In my theater, there are only a few viewing rooms with stadium seating. So i was even more thrilled to be sat in that room. The movie itself, did not disappoint.

It's also a book. If you didn't know, by Nicholas Sparks, which I haven't read but I'm sure, having read Sparks' work before it's great.
The story line goes between flashbacks and present time.
The present time, main characters; Dawson and Amanda, are played by James Marsden (you may recognize him from Enchanted with Amy Adams) and Michelle Monaghan (she's been in Mission Impossible). Their younger flashback counter parts are played by Liana Liberato and Luke Bracey,

The story is both exciting, dramatic and captivating.
I really enjoyed the film, as it made me root for the underdog and physically want to jump into the screen and grab the villain by the throat. The acting was extremely great as well.
I do hope you take the chance to go and check it out, or definitely put it on your list of movies to rent on DVD.
 I know I will!

What movies are you excited to see soon? Have you been to see this one yet? Have you read the book?
I hope you all are having a great week!

Alone

Autumn Stroll

2:00:00 PM

I know this post might seem a bit late into the season already, but hey I've been busy!
I love this time of year. The weather usually isn't too hot and it isn't too cold! I can bring out my comfy sweatshirts and big scarves.
The leaves look so pretty with their orange, red and yellow colors.
This being said, I decided that I needed a break from taking almost twenty pages of notes and I had to get out of the house.
I hadn't gotten to use my nice camera in awhile and this was the perfect opportunity!
I got into my car, and headed off to a spot where I have gone to twice since Sadie passed.
It's peaceful there and I've always liked being by the water.

I hope you don't mind that this post is a little more picture-esque! I'm really happy with how these all turned out!
I didn't take too many as I thought the trail I was on, was a bit longer than it actually was. I didn't mind spending time wandering around a bit though.
Being out and taking the sights in was really stress-relieving and felt really good.
Though walking about by myself made me kind of lonely, and part of me wanted to invite someone along but the other part of me enjoyed my little alone time.

I hope you all are having a great season so far! Remember to follow me on twitter, instagram, bloglovin and pinterest

Also!!!!!
I'm thinking about doing christmas cards this year and maybe opening a PO box, so if you think it'd be fun to exchange cards let me know! I love hearing from you!

My Best Friend

1:30:00 PM

I wasn't sure how "ready" I would be to write this post. It may or may not sit in my drafts for awhile after typing this all out.
With a heavy heart, I have to tell you that Sadie (that little dog that always pops up in these posts) passed away on Thursday September 25th at 4:05 am.
It was really difficult to make the decision, but she was in so much pain and I just wanted her to be okay again, but I knew she couldn't live that way anymore. She knew too.
So instead of being sad and crying like I have been for the past few days, I thought I would reflect on her life.

Sadie was born on May 29th, 2001.
I wished upon a star in the fall of 2000, and she came into my life in the Summer of 2001.
So I decided to sift through loads of pictures throughout the years and place them here.

I thought maybe waiting awhile to write this post would be fine. Though, looking at all of these pictures and finding quotes made me tear up a bit. There will always be little reminders, I have her collar hanging from my rear view mirror.
Like this one.
Yes it was really hard to say goodbye, Sadie was my best friend, she was always there no matter what, waiting for me to come home from school or work. She never held grudges and I guess that's the best thing about dogs right?
They're the only thing that will love you more than themselves.
And maybe looking at things that way, we should learn to live a little more like dogs.

I'm glad she's not in anymore pain but I do miss her and yes it is weird, not finishing homework and coming out to the living room to see her on the couch. Or asking if she wants to go for walks, or car rides.
I hope if any of you have pets that you hurry over to them right now and give them a squeeze. Because you're all they have. They don't get out of the house like we do, they sit and wait and are still a million times happier to see you than they were five seconds ago.
I was really worried about posting this as I don't even know if it portrays how much I love her, or does her life justice. But I think maybe it does.

Sorry this was really cheesy and sappy. I do hope you all are having a great October so far!
