We Danced All Night

10:33:00 AM

Going to a concert is a whirlwind. You buy the tickets months and months in advance, plan everything out, daydream about how one of the singers will make eye contact with you. As the days get closer it starts to feel unreal, you've gone through months of counting down, texting your friends that "it's so soon!" And finally the day comes. You're driving 3 hours to the stadium. Catching a shuttle to get you through the traffic, and then there you are. Waiting in line to get in.

Milwaukee

August 25th I saw One Direction for the second time.
My very first time was July 18th 2013 in Minneapolis, a state over.
This show was going to be special, because it was in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The chances of them ever coming back here are very slim.
I bought my tickets right after class way back in October. It was my friends first time going to see the boys, and my first time having floor tickets. It was surreal. The first concert I went to, I came away with a double ear infection and pink eye. So this was going to be my do-over.
Miller Park was the only baseball stadium they were playing at. With so much uncertainty about the "break", and even more uncertainty about whether or not they would ever be back...it was a very important show. Also, Harry absolutely loves the Packers. He was so happy, from having the entire stadium boo a bears fan, to having us all do the "Go Pack Go" chant...you could tell he was so happy to be with his people.
Packers

The feeling was mutual Harry. It really was.
The songs were all incredible. The energy from the boys was great as well.
One Direction
Being without Zayn has really changed them, (For the better of course). but the way they took over his vocals, and stepped up was incredible. They all did fantastic, and it was so good to see their smiles in real life.

The way Louis and Liam chased each other around the stage was hilarious, and made me feel so good about being there. Honestly, the way they all interacted with each other and us was just great all around. Harry actually told a 7 year old to wake up. What a guy.
It was like being in an arena with your four best friends and 42,000 of your other friends.

And then Liam and Louis threw water on each other.

This is what the stadium looked like. Wow.
Milwaukee

I have never seen an artist perform twice, but I am very glad I saw them. It's definitely one of the best concerts I have ever gone to, and I know I don't really know them, but it feels like I have. If I'm having a bad day, all I have to do is turn on their songs. I had a rough go in high school and they got me through that and I know I'm not the only one who feels that way. Whenever I have to wake up to open at 5am at work, all I have to do is turn on their albums and I'm ready for the day.
I know they'll never read this, and you might be reading this thinking "ugh one direction" but everyone has a band, everyone has someone that changes their life.
I honestly wouldn't have known half of the people I do now without them.
Thanks for being the best.
See you Soon hopefully.

What's your favorite One Direction song?? If you don't have one, who do you want to see in concert the most? I really want to see Ed Sheeran next!
Hope you're all having a good day!!

Hiking

River Escape

10:30:00 AM

Summer has gone by so quickly, as usual. Lately I've been busy with work..and lots of it! I finished up my online math class awhile ago, which was a big weight off of my shoulders, then I was thrown into a whirlwind of 40 plus hours a week-work weeks. Honestly, I'm exhausted, it doesn't help that a lot of people are leaving..and things just aren't the same anymore.
This past weekend I had off two days in a row! My dad had taken the week off and we were finally able to do something.
Walking by the river, away from the city (and work) was really nice. It wasn't too hot outside and it wasn't too cold. Just perfect for capturing photos of the rapids and beautiful greenery.

Tree
The moss on every tree and every rock was a brilliant green color and I loved it.

This photo might have been my favorite to come out of the trip

We ended our hike at this spot not too far off, the sun was peaking out of the clouds every few minutes.
Also, this bunch of roots looked like some scary creature...definitely glad it wasn't dark out...

This excursion reminded me to just take in little moments, that it's important to get away..because these past few weeks have been awfully crazy and stressful (I may or may not have cried 3 times at work). It was also revitalizing, because the week to come includes, moving back to Uni, turning 21 and starting new classes, making new friends.

I hope you all are enjoying the last bits of your Summer! Any big plans or celebrations?
Have you moved into University yet?
Sorry I haven't blogged in awhile!

Crisp

Strawberry Pecan Crisp

12:30:00 PM

What are some of the first foods that you think of when you think of Summer?
For me, I think of fruits. Mostly Strawberries, Peaches, Watermelon, Blueberries...etc. Which is why I spent some time finding the frozen strawberries in the freezer and stirring up a nice warm, fruit-filled, crisp.

Summer Recipe

Here's what you'll need:
Filling
2 cups chopped strawberries (my berries were quite small, so you may need less)
1/8 cup flour
3/8 cup granulated sugar
1/8 tsp salt
1/4 tsp vanilla

Strawberries

Topping
3/8 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/3 cup old fashioned oats
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp salt
3/8 cup chopped pecans
1/4 unsalted butter at room temp

Here's what you'll need to do:

Preheat the oven to 350*F(177*C) ; Lightly grease 8 inch pan and set aside
Filling Directions
Combine strawberries with flour, sugar, salt and vanilla in medium sized bowl.
-Toss gently until combined and spoon or pour evently into pan

Topping Directions
Whisk brown sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon, salt and pecans together.
-Get out brown sugar lumps, and add butter. Break up butter until mix is crumbly.
-Spread out on top of strawberries in pan

Bake 40-45 min until top is golden brown and juice is bubbly
Let Crisp cool before serving.

P.s serving this crisp warm with a little side of vanilla ice cream is the best.
I paired mine with Butter Pecan IceCream!
I hope you all enjoyed this recipe! Let me know what your favorite thing to eat or bake this Summer has been in the comments!

Summer Nights

8:30:00 AM

It's the first of August already? What?!  This Summer (like all summers) is going by so quickly! I decided while I had a bit of time to show off my newest JawBreaking purchase as well as a new plaid jacket I bought from a secondhand store!

Jawbreaking, plaid

You can find the shirt at this link right here!
I love having new clothes for the Summer and into the Fall. I haven't owned any plaid for quite some time, I feel like it went out of style a bit and now it's back!
Hope you all like this post!
Thanks for reading!
