Third Year Wrap Up

7:00:00 AM

Can you believe that it's almost the end of May? It seems like just the other day it was cold and windy outside and my cheeks were bright red from the cold. Now they're just red from the sun, and my nose is burnt. It's nearly the end of May, which also brings the end of the semester.

While most University students post what they learned during their year, I feel like changing things up a bit. This year, I asked myself a lot of questions. With an international roommate, and a different lifestyle plan, this list came into play.

Question

1.Why does my roommate think it's okay to change in front of the OPEN window?Does she know the people outside can see her? Does she even care?

Barbados Ohmygod

2.Is this Vegan? That wrap looks good...oh it's got feta. Shoot. Apples and peanut butter it is.
Is it Vegan

3. Will I use this program in my career? Having a major in communications means that I get to play with things like Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. For hours.

4.Where is my pencil? I literally just had it. Oh there it is...across the room.

Glee

5.Where is my phone? I swear I just had that too..

One Direction Search

6 Did I bring my ID card? I can't get food without my ID card, and if I don't have it I can't eat and that is tragic.

7.Why does my roommate shed so much? Her hair is literally all over the carpet. It's disgusting.
The Notebook

8. When does this semester end?

9.Does my roommate like the musty smell in the room? It's all her. All the time. No open windows, no ventilation, the dorms don't have air conditioning...and she doesn;t wear deodorant.
Gross

10. What time is it? Usually me asking if 9pm is an acceptable time to go to sleep.

What day is it

Luckily, I survived my Spring semester here at Uni and it is officially summer, I start training for a new job on Monday and I am so excited! I'm currently compiling a list of blogs to write and would love any suggestions so make sure to send me an email or facebook message or of course comment below!
What questions do you usually ask yourself during the day? I hope you're having a lovely end of May!

Restaurant Review: Mona Lisa's

12:00:00 PM

A few posts ago, I wrote about how my University put on Family Weekend, and we had all gone out to dinner at this amazing restaurant. The minute we walked in from the cold autumn air, we were met with room filled with photos of the Mona Lisa, and chandeliers made from wine bottles hanging from the ceiling. Two disco balls sparkled above the bar, and it was clear by the amount of people that this place was a good choice. A vast variety of interpretations of Leonardo Da Vinci's famous painting decorated the ceiling as well as the wall.

We were seating in a little corner of the restaurant which was spread between two rooms and we were served by the friendliest waitress, she told us that they always update their menu, creating new dishes about every two or three weeks. Which is fantastic if you ever want to go to a place and want to try something new with the comfort that you know it will still be really great food.
We devoured the delicious bread, that came with a selection of dipping choices. Olive butter, hummus and two types of oils. It was really great, and I'm sorry I don't have a photo to show you all! I did however, take photos of the food!
The dish on the left is mine, it was an elbow noodle with green sauce and veggies, while my mom opted for the mushroom ravioli. Both were very delicious. The sauce was incredible on mine, and my mom agreed that hers was great as well! I even had enough left for a little bit of leftovers to take to my dorm with me the next day. Which was good. The cafeteria isn't opened on weekends.

My stepdad raved that the scallops, like our waitress said, were amazing! Definitely one of our waitress'  favorite dishes along with my dads girlfriends choice of gnocchi. My stepdad eats out a lot because his work requires traveling, and he's had a lot of scallops at nice places but he definitely stated over and over that these were the best.
While there are many pasta choices to choose from, you can also have a nice tenderloin like my dad chose, with a side of beans and potatoes that come along with it.

We all really enjoyed this meal and the owner even came over to introduce herself, Lisa is so kind and even stated that they're opening a new place next door and there is a patio for summer seating, and also a fireplace for the winter. Though we haven't tried a large number of places to eat, if you're ever in Eau Claire Wisconsin, Mona Lisa's should definitely be the one to go to.
Also, I should point out that we weren't even left with that uncomfortably full feeling, and it was great! The food tastes amazing and I cannot recommend it enough!
What are your favorite Italian dishes?  Let me know in the comments!
Have you found any new places to eat near you? I'd love to hear about it!
Thanks for reading!

Back To School: Round 3

8:00:00 AM

It's that time again, your favorite bloggers are all writing tips and tricks on moving away for uni or starting up school again in the first place. This time I'm back at the University I transferred to and here's hoping that this semester is better than the last.

It's nerve-wracking moving away from home, you've spent your whole summer with friends, and probably working and now you're onto school, piles of books and heavy backpacks and who knows what you're going to be eating?!
I've already visited my favorite coffee shop once and ran to the store to buy a pack of pretzles. Who brings almond butter and nothing to eat it with? Me.
I'm a few weeks into my schooling by now so I thought I would share photos of my dorm room and a few tips!

Make your room "homey" If you see a decorative pillow at the store while out shopping for supplies, buy it. I got this owl one at Shopko and the London pillow was from a secondhand sale!
Bring memories from home Photos are going to make your room feel more like you live there as opposed to just staying in that room for awhile. It's also very helpful when you miss your pals and family back home. Everyone's lives get busy and it's hard to stay in touch...so...
Write letters! They don't give you an address and mailbox for nothing! Use it. I love getting mail, and I love writing letters and sending them off, especially if the other person has no idea that they're getting some mail. It's a nice break from garbage mail anyway.

Make sure to explore your campus. You'll probably do this with the friends you meet around you, but if you need a break from studying, or from the stress, it's a nice way to get out and see the campus and gain a clear mind!

That's all I have for now, you'll do great out there kids!
I was so nervous coming to school this year as my roommate and I were/are strangers, but we're getting to know each other and she's from Japan! Which makes this all very interesting in learning about different cultures. Of course we have differences, but fingers crossed that it'll all work out! I could probably write another post all about it at the end of the year perhaps.  If you're wondering about Latte, he has assumed his previous location on top of my desk in my room.

Thanks for reading, sorry if I disappear a bit, I'm probably out exploring new shops and places. I'll keep you guys posted! Here's hoping procrastination doesn't hit any of us too hard...
If you're back at school, what's your favorite thing so far? Do you have a roommate? If you're already done with schooling, what was your favorite subject? Let me know down in the comments!
