It might be October, but every once in a while I think about the beautiful beaches of South Carolina and picture the delicious food that I could never seem to get enough of. I've told you about two of my top three places my family at in South Carolina, and I suppose I'll tell you about the third today. 

It rained once, maybe twice while we were enjoying our stay in the southern state. One night, we decided to check out a restaurant called Chez Fish. If you're looking for fresh seafood, this is definitely the place. When you first enter Chez Fish, you are greeted by their display of different seafood that they offer to sell. 




Don't be afraid, but there are cats that hang around the parking lot, we all guessed that they fed them after the store shut down for the night. Aside from the cats, we hurried inside from the rain into a store decorated with vibrant color and fun shore-themed decor. 



Most of our food was recommended, my Tilefish was amazing, topped with a giant fried shrimpserved on top of carrot mashed potatoes. It was the special of the day, and the fish was so light and tasty, the carrot mashed potatoes, though completely unhealthy were amazing and I still dream about them today. The veggies and sauce blended everything together so well. (my mouth is watering just thinking about it! ) 




We may have been really really full, but couldn't resist a little slice of Key Lime Pie. I usually don't go for something with Lime, but this pie was just as delicious as the entree! 

Charleston is a city that is filled with so much history. Everything changes when the sun goes down. The streets look different, and the colors of the houses go away, but it's still magical. Walking around Charleston at night on the cobblestone roads is really fun. 
While my family spent time in the city (the first night we were there), we were lucky enough to experience the night market. 

If you've been reading awhile you may have read that I've moved. It's exciting, a little nerve wracking at first but hey, that's life I suppose. Being in a new town and on my own I decided to make sure to pack my new camera (the really nice one I got for Christmas and used for those Arizona posts). 
 Anyway, I decided to use my first saturday here by exploring. It's a beautiful campus, and it's covered with a little bit of snow, not as much as last year, which I am perfectly fine with. So I can only assume it's twice as pretty in the Autumn when the leaves are full of color. 
 My university is set on the river, which makes for some pretty nice photos. 
The weather wasn't too cold, I did look ahead to check and see which day would be best to go.

 After walking the length of the little shops that lined the street, the cold was starting to get to my fingers, though I didn't mind much. I do live in Wisconsin after all, and it hasn't been nearly as cold as last year, so I really shouldn't complain!
 I did end up back on campus, spotting some ducks in the creek as I came up to a building. 

I'm writing this a few days before New Year's Eve comes around, as I'm not sure what my internet connection will be or if I will even have plans to post this! This year has been quite different. I guess I can say that, though nobody really expects it to be the same as the year before, I think it's pretty common to wish each year were different in a good way. 

 This year I learned a lot of good lessons, had to make some tough decisions, and made some pretty great friends. Reflecting back on the year, I don't think I would say I would regret any of it. Here are some of the lessons I have learned looking back on this year. 

People leave. Whether you have known each other for years and at one point thought you'd be best friends forever. It didn't stick. It's different when you go to college or uni, especially for me since I chose to stay at a university near home. But I didn't think I would be the one to leave the group. Honestly. It was the best thing that ever happened to me, even though it was really tough at first.

Numbers don't matter. No matter how many "friends" you can count on your facebook page. It's better to have closer ones you can count on your fingers. For me, they came later in the year, and my best friend came right when I needed her the most.

Being sincere changes the world. Telling someone "hey you make my day" can really change their life. Try it. Tell your best friend she's inspiring, tell someone "hey that thing you did just now really made me happy." Because maybe they're having a bad day and you wouldn't know, but when they go home they might smile because of that.

I learned some smaller things too like, if I want to buy a fish I can even though my parents may not love it as much as I do, though shuttling the fish to someone's home so they can care for it is not the best. (My fish's name is Latte.) I learned that with people leaving, 
people will stay. And they are the best, and you should never let them go. I learned that ice tea is very addicting and I also don't care, I love it so much. 

Along with a New Year on the horizon, I am also excited for what it has to bring. 
 I'm going to the One Direction concert in Milwaukee in August. I might be going to Chicago for a weekend (stay tuned). My really good friend is getting married. I might visit New York City at the end of the year too (stay tuned for that). Maybe since I'm ending 2014 traveling and starting 2015 traveling..it'll be the year of travel for me? We'll just have to see.
