Sand and Sunsets

I love sunsets, the colors of the sky as the sun darkens to a dark orange glow. I love it.
We were lucky enough to visit Kiawah Island in South Carolina, and to see some amazing sunsets while we were there. You have seen a few on my instagram, but I thought I would share them on here if you haven't seen them!

There is not a bad place to see the sunrise or set on Kiawah!
One night, we ventured over to a spot called Mingo Point, there was a little spot of sand and hundreds of tiny crabs that would scatter if you tossed a piece of grass or stick near them.

Can you see the Dolphin?

Sunsets have always captivated me, the way the sky goes from light blue to yellow and orange to purple and dark again. There is just something about watching the sunset that makes me feel so at peace and extremely thankful to be able to have the opportunity to see them.

Sunrise and the Ocean

Cold weather mornings have started to come back, and yet here I am still talking about my trip I took this past Summer in June. I haven't even started talking about everything I loved in Kiawah, South Carolina.

One of my favorite activities that we did, was get up early and go walking on the beach. The sun was always beautiful, and the ocean was still far out from shore. A tropical storm had blown through Florida, which is just down the coast from South Carolina, and brought up some pretty cool sea creatures onto our shore.

Shrimp Boat

These boats were out all day long, but in the morning they were close to the shore and we could see them!

One of the oldest creatures in the Horseshoe Crab, they look like army helmets, are not harmful to humans and wash up on shore to lay their eggs!

They were all over the beach in the morning, and sometimes we would see them when we walked on the beach later in the day. There was one morning when we saw one lone dolphin gliding among the waves quite close to shore. I was always the one to spot the dolphins on this trip!

Honestly, my favorite part of the entire trip was leaving my phone behind and relying on my nice camera for photos and turning everything off for the two weeks that I was there. Honestly, wish I could do that again soon. (Maybe for Christmas time, after exams?!)
I hope you all are having a great October!

Do you ever just sit back and think about what life would have been like 300-400+ years ago. It would be about 1716 or 1616. There's a reason I'm asking you this, don't worry.

There's a tree just outside of Charleston South Carolina, that is about that age. It's been there for a really long time and it's massive. We drove down a slightly bumpy, unpaved road and stood in awe of this huge tree.

South Carolina

Photo creds to my lil sis for taking this amazing photo.

We actually visited this guy twice on our trip. The first time, it was unbelievably rainy, and the second it wasn't (obv). The tree stands at about 66.5 feet tall, and about 28 feet around.  The branches were held up by some posts in the ground, but they reached down and under ground a bit before popping back up toward the sky. The trees longest branch is a distance of 187 feet!
It was really amazing.
The world is amazing and it blows me away every time I experience it.
I will probably say this a lot but, maybe it was because I went social media free and phone free, I just felt really luck and in love with life.

Visiting the Angel Oak tree is free to the public, so I would highly recommend that if you're in the area you come and visit. You can read more about the tree at this website! I hope you enjoyed this post!
If you were alive 400 years ago, what do you think you would be doing? Do you think you'd like it? I don't really know if I would, everything now has made life so much easier.
I hope you're all having a great summer so far! Make sure to leave a comment or two :)
