Chez Fish

It might be October, but every once in a while I think about the beautiful beaches of South Carolina and picture the delicious food that I could never seem to get enough of. I've told you about two of my top three places my family at in South Carolina, and I suppose I'll tell you about the third today. 

Fishery

It rained once, maybe twice while we were enjoying our stay in the southern state. One night, we decided to check out a restaurant called Chez Fish. If you're looking for fresh seafood, this is definitely the place. When you first enter Chez Fish, you are greeted by their display of different seafood that they offer to sell.

Don't be afraid, but there are cats that hang around the parking lot, we all guessed that they fed them after the store shut down for the night. Aside from the cats, we hurried inside from the rain into a store decorated with vibrant color and fun shore-themed decor. 
Dinner

 Most of our food was recommended, my Tilefish was amazing, topped with a giant fried shrimpserved on top of carrot mashed potatoes. It was the special of the day, and the fish was so light and tasty, the carrot mashed potatoes, though completely unhealthy were amazing and I still dream about them today. The veggies and sauce blended everything together so well. (my mouth is watering just thinking about it! )

We may have been really really full, but couldn't resist a little slice of Key Lime Pie. I usually don't go for something with Lime, but this pie was just as delicious as the entree!

My meal at Chez Fish, was amazing, and we all talked about the food every once in a while. Agreeing that this was probably our favorite place to go! If you're ever on Kiawah Island, Seabrook Island, or John's Island or even near Charleston South Carolina, you have to visit Chez Fish. Trust me. You will love it.

Let's be honest here. I was one of those people who was not at all ready for it to be fall. The colorful leaves on the trees, yes maybe. But the colder weather, and not being able to lay out on the deck and the fact that classes are in full swing. No. Thanks. But now that October has rolled around, I've finally come to terms with it and have fallen in love with the season again. While scrolling through some photos, and being poorly (I can't breathe out of one nostril it's really great), I thought I would pop a few in a blog post for you all to enjoy. 



Most of these, if not all of them, are from a trip I took to the market in Minneapolis and it was packed with people and colorful looking veggies!

Charleston

King Street Market

I love traveling, having just been in Charleston in June you've probably gotten sick of all of the travel posts by now. There was so much to do down south that I have a lot to share. 
Remember when I said we were stuck in Charleston? Down south, they have a law that says nobody can work on Sunday, therefore our truck wasn't going to be done until Monday which left us a full day in downtown Charleston.

Having unplanned extra time on a trip, meant we really had no idea what to do. Luckily for us, Charleston has a street market every second Sunday of the month during the summer on King Street. They block off the entire street and allow food trucks to park there. Crowds of people join in for the fun.

I even found some Macarons from a French pastry stand. It was salted caramel and it tasted delicious!

They even had a spot where you could stop and pet some adorable puppies!

Having the street closed off, meant I could get cool photos down other streets like this one!

I also stopped for some lemon ice on our way back to the car. 


Being stuck in Charleston may have prolonged our vacation, and could have caused us a ton of stress, but we could have been stuck in the mountains somewhere between Kentucky and Tennessee. Having an extra day to explore was great, and it'll be a memory that I won't forget anytime soon!

Feelin 22

For some reason, I've been having a hard time writing this post. Not because turning 22 is scary, or that I'm avoiding it. Just because, I really don't know how to write this post. 
I could write a list of things I've learned in the past year. I could write an entire post to summarize going from 21 to 22. It's honestly not that different. 
I can still legally drink. 
I can still legally drive in the United States. 
So, what is new?

I'd like to think that this year, I was more grateful.

I felt lucky. A lot. 
To be able to take a driving trip with my family down south. 
To be able to do something (announcement coming soon) that I have been dreaming of for a really long time. 
To go skydiving to end the 21st year. 
To be able to feel the sunshine on my face on the beach. 
To be able to come home.

 It might be because I've seen a lot of people pass away too young in the past year, and that all makes me think that you literally do not know when life is going to end. You just don't. So why not enjoy it while you've got it. 

I hope the 22nd year, is just as great. 
I hope that I will have time to read more books ( I literally read 3 this past year). 
I hope I discover something new
I hope I enjoy all of it, even if some bits are bad. 
I hope that with each post on this space, that I get better at writing.

 The hardest part about turning a year older, is that when you realize you really don't need anything and each year it must be harder to come up with a birthday list. Other than peanut butter cake, or red velvet cake. Life really is great.

Doors of Charleston

Walking along the narrow streets of Charleston, South Carolina it's easy to see how different and unique every house is. Aside from street numbers, almost every house has a different door color. For some reason, I said "I really like doors" and the entire time we were in Charleston everyone pointed out different doors for me. They were really beautiful, and I have enough pictures of doors to build a village...almost.

After walking around the streets looking at all of the different doors, I started to really like the red doors and wanted my photo taken in front of one by the end of the trip (so pic credit to my mom!)

This door might look pretty familiar to you if you have a pinterest account, my sister had one bucket list item to see while we were in the city, and it took us the entire 2 weeks to find it on our last day. This was the most excited she had been the entire trip.

 I mean, I don't blame her, this house has such beautiful color and character. Shortly after leaving this spot, I thought about the person who lives there and how it must feel to have a house that is so popular and pinned countlessly by the internet! We also saw a few doors at dusk, which was a lovely time to walk around the city as it wasn't too hot with the sun in the sky!

 I've talked a lot about the history of Charleston, but it's so interesting to me and I really enjoyed every minute that I was there (aside from being stuck at an auto shop for over 3 hours). While nobody invited us inside for iced tea or lemonade, we had a lovely time taking it all in.
