H&M: Fall Loves

7:00:00 AM

Fall

I'm one of those people who love summer. The warmth, the light, the heat (even when people complain). I live in flowy t-shirts and leggings all summer and love it. While I do have to admit, I finally came to terms with the fact that it is now Fall, and went on a fall adventure in my newest favorite from one of my top-stores H&M.

Having really fun outfits to wear during the Fall months make getting cold weather a little more bearable. The other day, I went out adventuring with a friend to a spot near my University to take some photos.

Outfit of the day

I am all about being outdoors before the snow comes. I really am a wimp when the weather gets cold. I would prefer wrapping myself in a blanket, drinking a warm beverage and watching Netflix.
The day was gorgeous and we got to enjoy the fall colors that Wisconsin gets this time of year,we visited the nearby Farmers Market one last time, grabbing some homemade Monster cookies and ended our fun with the perfect meal at Noodles. Pesto cavatappi yes please!

Autumn Market

8:00:00 AM

Let's be honest here. I was one of those people who was not at all ready for it to be fall. The colorful leaves on the trees, yes maybe. But the colder weather, and not being able to lay out on the deck and the fact that classes are in full swing. No. Thanks. But now that October has rolled around, I've finally come to terms with it and have fallen in love with the season again. While scrolling through some photos, and being poorly (I can't breathe out of one nostril it's really great), I thought I would pop a few in a blog post for you all to enjoy.

Most of these, if not all of them, are from a trip I took to the market in Minneapolis and it was packed with people and colorful looking veggies!

How cute is that eggplant??

I hope you're having a great start to October so far, what are some things you like to do in the fall? Anything you're looking forward to?

An Autumn Fire and Early Christmas views

8:30:00 AM

A few weekends ago, I was lucky enough to come home once again and spend a bit more time relaxing and less time running around as I felt like I had last time.

On a perfectly crisp, autumnal day, my family decided to pack a little lunch and venture out to my grandparents land. There aren't very pretty colors in the woods at this time of year, but spending an afternoon near a autumn fire roasting turkey dogs and regular hot dogs seemed perfect. We were here to celebrate my grandmothers birthday a little early as my aunt from Minnesota was home for the weekend as well. We bundled up and made our way out to the woods.

There's always something nice about sitting around a campfire. Especially when it's a bit chilly out. The sun popped in an out of clouds and the trees above swayed gently in the breeze, yet we felt protected somewhat from the wind. It felt really nice to be far away from town and away from school, just enjoying each others company.

After filling our bellies, and sitting around the fire for a bit watching it slowly fade into the pit, we had a bit of fun tossing water onto the rocks around them. They were very hot and the water sizzled and steamed once it touched them. The girls (my aunt, mom, grandma, and I) parted from the boys (my step-dad and grandpa) and went downtown to go into a store that is very very christmas-y.
Though it's not even Thanksgiving here yet, it's still exciting to look at all of the cute Christmas decor. This little shop was filled wall to wall with different decorations and trinkets. It made me very excited for the holidays. Which cannot seem to come soon enough!

This shop has different little rooms that flow into one another, so each has its own theme and variety of holiday decorations! It took a while to gaze at all of the things, we probably still missed a few! After, we decided to walk down to a little bakery to pick out some sweets.
My favorite is their Peanut Butter Cupcake, as it has the BEST frosting you have probably ever tasted. Though that would have been my first grab, I opted for the smaller version because I was still a bit full from my lunch!

We also shared bites of this Turtle dessert (it's my moms favorite) and had a nice little chat before heading off to our separate destinations.
It's always nice being home and spending time with family doing things I can't always do while I'm away at University. I had a really nice weekend and I'm glad I got to spend it outside enjoying the weather before it really begins to snow and I won't want to even leave my house.

I hope you all had a great weekend, what did you do?
Do you ever treat yourself to some dessert once in a while?
What's your favorite holiday decoration that you always put out during the season?
(Mine's a blue fish ornament that we always put on the tree!)
Leave a comment and let me know!

Cinnamon Spice and All things Nice

11:00:00 AM

That's the saying right? Or something along those lines I guess. I love the fall season, it's time for chai teas (with soy or almond milk thank you), everything tastes like pumpkin it seems, and the holiday countdown begins shortly after Halloween. This blog post comes a bit after Halloween, as I was home during the little holiday.
After finishing off mid-term week, I needed to get away from the confinement and slight frustration that comes along with living in close quarters with someone else. I went home. I really get into baking after one thing is done and find myself with three different timers and three different dishes. I love it.
I decided that my first thing to bake was going to be these Iced Snicker doodle cookies!
Though I had never done a hand in on making these before I was eager to try it out and put my own twist on the recipe as always!
Fall Baking

Here's what you will need!

Cookies:
2 and 3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup melted, butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 egg at room temp
2 teaspoons vanilla

Rolling:
1/2 cup sugar
1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice

Frosting:
3 spoon-fulls of Rich and Creamy Vanilla Frosting (I used Betty Crocker)
About 1.5 tablespoons of vanilla
Sprinkle of Nutmeg
1 tablespoon of cinnamon
Sprinkle of ginger
1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice

Here's What You need to do!

Cookies:
Toss Flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, cinnamon and salt together in a large bowl
In a medium bowl, whisk melted butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar together until smooth
Whisk in egg and vanilla until combined
Pour wet ingredients into dry and mix together with spoon
Cover the dough tightly and chill in the fridge for about 45 minutes.
Preheat Oven to 350* F, or  176* C
Line two large cookie sheets with parchment paper
Remove dough from fridge and roll dough into balls. (the cookies don't roll so make sure you flatten a bit!)
Baking

Rolling:
Mix spices and sugar together in small bowl.
Roll each dough in mix to coat evenly.
Place balls onto cookie sheets (about 10 per sheet)
Snickerdoodles

Bake
For 10 minutes, though I only put mine in for 9 to get nice moist cookies

Frosting
Spoon out vanilla frosting into small bowl
Add in the Vanilla, and spices and mix with spoon.
With a knife, add a little bit to each cookie, or a lot depending on how much frosting you like!
The frosting is something I completely made up and went by taste for a lot of the spices

Snicker Doodles

Baking is something that relives so much stress, and being away from home I really don't get to do that very often, so when I do come home I love to bake. These cookies were such a big hit for my house that my mom woke me up the next morning and we made a batch for my great-uncle and my grandparents. It's safe to say, this was another winning recipe for us all!
Do you have any favorite recipes that everyone loves? I hope you're weeks are all going great!
Hopefully the weather hasn't gotten to cold for you yet! I hope you try these out! Let me know in the comments what you think!
Thanks for reading!

(also if you follow me on twitter you will know that my fish Latte passed away, though it is sad, the semester was really stressful on him with having a roommate that doesn't have a set or even sane sleeping schedule and all.)

Sunflowers and Monster Cookies

8:00:00 AM

When you go to bed at half past midnight and are woken up at seven in the morning because you have a roommate who decided to make use of the microwave at such an early hour, and then eat her breakfast only to fall asleep shortly after eating, immediately putting you in a grumpy mood, it's important to treat yourself a little bit.
Last semester was cold, and Winter-y. You remember. Being my first weekend back at University, I decided to check it out. I was up already anyway...so why not?

Peppers

There was Autumn in the air, and I started to feel very excited that I can pull out my new jackets bought a few months ago, and my favorite ones as well.
I parked my car a block away, pulled my bag over my shoulder and grabbed my camera. It felt so nice having my camera with me once again, on one of many adventures. I've missed it.
The park was scattered with people of all ages and rows of vegetables, fruits and homemade goods. There were peppers, and squash and pumpkins. I love Autumn.
Along the way I picked up a few samples of bread and dip, and good-for-you granola, which seems to becoming more popular! I love making granola, I find it quite fun!
There were HUGE wheels of bread of all kinds! My eyes weren't that big, there would be no way one person could eat that all by themselves in one sitting, but I suppose that isn't what they're meant for!
They did look great though! Being woken up at 7am almost, I thought it would be nice to get myself a bit of a treat, there were homemade cookies with all natural ingredients, so I picked up this Monster Cookie-cookie for $1, because you know what. I deserved it. It was delicious, soft and fresh..It's still my birthday month anyway.
Across from the food market, there was an art market as well, where a lot of cool jewlery and tapestries were on display. I picked up some little stickers, that I'm sending off in the mail with some of the cards I'll be writing soon! As well as, a little something for my Grandma, even though her birthday isn't until November...at least I'm not shopping for Christmas yet....right?
I kept walking by a cute bouquet of Sunflowers, having really wanted them, it was kind of an impulse buy. And by kind of, I mean it was. I don't have a vase, or any idea how to keep these flowers alive. But they're pretty to look at while they're here.
It's always nice to treat yourself. Because who's going to buy you flowers if you've just got yourself/ anyway? Whenever I feel down I can always look at these and have a better mood. They're so bright! I love it!
Have you been to the markets lately? Are they still happening around you? What is your favorite thing to get?
I hope you're having a great week!

Historic Walks

1:00:00 PM

You never know what your town has to offer. But do you ever wonder about the people that used to live there?
Way before you, years and years ago?

Recently, during my birthday weekend, after sleeping for ten hours because I was feeling poorly, my dad, his girlfriend and I went out on a little adventure.
When you're ill it's good to get out of the house, if you're feeling up for it.
The weather was so nice out and I felt bad having to stay inside because I wasn't feeling the best. So I decided to tag along.
We went to the Art Museum in my town, it sits on a steep hill and it's in a beautiful building.

In the front is a large garden, filled with sculptures and statues.  The only time I was ever at the museum was when I took trips for school, therefore we hadn't really had the chance to explore the gardens.

This museum, is known for it's "Birds in Arts" Pieces done by artists from different places and different eras. It was really neat seeing the different pieces, as I'm not extremely artistic, and I'm really impressed with anyone who can draw on such a great level!

I mostly loved the Owl pieces, as they're my favorite birds. I could stare at them for hours!
The paintings, drawings and sculptures were all great!
After wandering around the museum for a bit, we had to make a decision, go home or go on a little drive. We decided on the drive and stopped at an island near the downtown portion of my town!
It was so beautiful looking at the scenery in a part of town that I had never actually been to before.
There's a historic walk, with signs that tell the story of what happened around that area many years ago.

It was gorgeous scenery, and it was very interesting to learn about the logging that happened on the rivers.
The adventure also had me thinking about what people would be like back in the olden days, what would it be like with wagons pulling up to a shop, or a train rolling through town.

After the walk, being a bit poorly yet, I was tired and ready to head home in hopes of taking a quick nap or even a nice hot bath.

I hope you all are having great Septembers so far!

A curly visitor

1:30:00 PM

No I'm not talking about Harry Styles from One Direction coming to Wisconsin on the 28th of August to watch a Packers (his favorite football team) game. I still need to meet him. Yes I'm still slightly salted at the fact that those boys aren't doing a show at Lambeau for their Where We are Stadium Tour.

Moving on...

The other weekend, shortly after Harry had popped up another curly headed guest arrived at my dads house. His name is Jack. He has gray hair, beady eyes and walks on four legs.

Jack, belongs to my grandmother and he was visiting while she had gone on a trip up north.

Sadie was not too pleased by his presence in "her" household.
Once Sadie sat herself in my lap, she would growl everytime poor Jack would walk by.

My dad and I did take them both on a walk, as I would have felt bad only taking one dog and not the other.
Jack is much more energetic than Sadie is, and she wasn't too sure what to think of him following her around as she tried to go about her business.

They were both moving too quick for me to take a proper photo.
Eventually they did get used to eachother and seperated themselves with no problems the rest of the night.

I know this post was much shorter than I meant it to be but I haven't blogged about Sadie for awhile, and so I thought I would squeeze this one in!
I hope you enjoyed it!
